The Kaleidoscope Within Us
“Every turning holds a pause, and every pause holds the beginning of a new pattern.”
Out of nowhere, an image of a kaleidoscope appeared in my mind.
It felt like I suddenly needed to see the world through its lens, through colour, movement, and shifting patterns. Imagery I hadn’t visited in years returned all at once, and as soon as I started writing, the words took on a life of their own. It’s incredible how a single symbol can open a doorway inside you.
A kaleidoscope has always fascinated me.
The colours.
The shapes.
The way everything moves and evolves with each gentle turn.
Then the moment of black before the next pattern forms.
As a child, I noticed it.
As an adult, I understand it.
The black is the unknown.
The pause.
The breath before life rearranges itself into something new.
If you’re patient, if you trust, if you allow… the colours return.
And they return brighter, sharper, and more surprising than before.
That’s what newness feels like in life, whether it’s a person, a place, or an unexpected moment. The pleasant surprises that arrive quietly, right when you least expect them. The vividness that appears out of nowhere. The beauty in small moments that leaves an imprint on your heart.
And then, after writing about all of this, the symbol appeared again that night,
a kaleidoscope, in a movie, right there in front of me.
The same colours.
The same turning.
The same reminder.
That’s synchronicity.
That’s alignment.
That’s guidance.
It’s a reminder that when imagery arrives, it’s connection, it's the world speaking back.
So, keep turning the kaleidoscope.
Keep watching the colours shift.
Keep trusting the black moments, because it’s made up of all the colours, and it’s the void, the calmness, the stillness before the new beginnings.
And keep allowing life to surprise you with patterns you never expected.
